Intolerance with Wolf as Your Teacher

The Animals' Message for April 2025

As you’ll hear in the video - this month’s Animals’ Message came to me in a very different way - first with Wolf appearing and then three separate run-ins for myself with feelings of Intolerance. When something happens with that kind of frequency in such a short period of time, I know I’m being presented with an opportunity; one to dive deeper into the experience to better understand WHY that emotion is there.

For April, let’s look at where our Intolerance shows up. Let’s excavate it to understand where it lands in our body. Review why intolerance is the behavior we choose in reaction to certain situations. And what are those situations exactly - are they reminiscent of something we experienced as a child? And what is all there emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually? What comes up for you?

This is the inner work we are being called to examine this month. And Wolf has come forward to be our Teacher.

From Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams & David Carson

In many spiritual and Indigenous traditions, "wolf medicine" represents wisdom, intuition, and the balance between independence and community. When it comes to Intolerance, wolf medicine teaches valuable lessons in understanding, adaptability, and leadership:

  1. Pack Mentality & Cooperation – Wolves rely on their pack for survival, each member playing a role. This teaches the importance of unity despite differences, helping one appreciate diverse perspectives rather than rejecting them.

  2. Instinct & Intuition – Wolves trust their instincts but also observe deeply before acting. Practicing wolf medicine encourages you to pause and consider another's perspective before reacting with intolerance.

  3. Teaching & Learning – Wolves are both teachers and students within their pack. This reminds us that everyone has something to teach and something to learn, making it easier to remain open-minded.

  4. Balance of Strength & Gentleness – Though fierce hunters, wolves are also nurturing within their family groups. This duality encourages a balanced approach to others—firm in your beliefs but not rigid or dismissive of others.

  5. Loyalty & Respect – Wolves show deep respect for their elders and pack structure. This medicine reminds us that honoring others, even when we disagree, fosters greater harmony rather than division.

By embracing wolf medicine, let’s see how we can transform intolerance into curiosity, respect, and a deeper connection with ourselves. We can even explore how this work creates connections with others as as with the Divine.

Also ask yourself - how does my animal(s) point out intolerance in me? And/or how do they come along side me to assist me in working with it? Have I been able to accept their support?

Good questions to ponder this month! Please join me in conversation about Intolerance and Wolf as Teacher when we have our Monthly Animals’ Message Meet-Up on Tuesday, April 8 at noon eastern for paid subscribers. I can’t wait to see what all unfolds for you and your animal coaches!
